Climate change impacts are increasingly present in our cities. Actions to reduce the causes of climate change are essential, but we also need to take adaptation measures. Nature is a fundamental part of the climate change adaptation strategy, through Nature-Based Solutions.

Therefore, we conducted an unprecedented study in Brazil to find out about the population’s perception of climate change and their understanding of nature’s potential as part of the solution. Here you can find the main highlights of this research, the complete study and its infographics available for download and sharing.

Information is the first step to climate action!

RESEARCH MAIN
HIGHLIGHTS

We have selected some of the main highlights identified in the research. Access the full report for detailed information.

  • 93% of people believe that climate events have been intensifying around the world.

  • 64% of Brazilians fear a heavy rain forecast.

  • 95% agree that NBS can reduce climate change impact.

  • 98% of people would like to have more tree-lined streets, parks, forests, or large public green areas in their cities.

NATURE-BASED
SOLUTIONS

Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are actions that use natural processes and ecosystems to face the most urgent challenges of our time, such as: the risk of lack of water and the impacts of extreme weather events, such as floods and landslides.

It is a natural resource management approach that creates benefits for biodiversity while promoting solutions for socioeconomic development and human well-being.
